Home of Compassion Children’s Testimonies

God is Using the Home of Compassion Children

We were so blessed and encouraged this year to sit with each of the Home of Compassion children and listen as they joyfully shared their exciting testimonies of how God has been using them for His glory. God can surely use any person of any age that has a willing heart to serve Him. These children have realized now at their young age how much better their lives are since Jesus has filled them with His love. Many of the children shared their visions and hopes for the future. We believe the Lord will use each one of these children to make a difference in lives in India!

Spiritual growth is very important at the HOC Orphanage. Every morning and evening the children have a time of praise and prayer. They have a group Bible study twice a week and attend church on Sundays. They have also been growing in their personal prayer lives, spending time alone with God.

The children share, “We intercede for the ministry and we pray for our sponsors. Our heart burden is to reach souls. We feel like we have unity here. When we go to school the teachers know that we are good, obedient children.”

Every year when we interview the children living at the Home of Compassion (HOC) orphanage, it brings us such hope to hear how each one is growing, learning, and experiencing more of Jesus. The children are happy, healthy, and hopeful for their futures. They are grateful for the ways they were rescued from the bleakness of their pasts. Love and compassion have changed their lives forever; provision and a family setting have given them something they weren’t able to receive from their blood relatives. Each of the children told us what they like most about HOC, what they want to be when they grow up, and some shared testimonies of how God is using them.

A few children shared the following.

What I like best about Home of Compassion:

“God gave me a new life here at the home. He healed me from sickness and I no longer get any beatings. I like the food here and I feel a lot of love here at the home.” (Sasi—age 10)

“When I lived in my home, I didn’t have enough food to eat and I couldn’t go to school, but since I came here, I don’t have to worry about food and I can do my studies. Jesus has blessed me, and I have learned a lot of discipline here”. (Susee—age 11)

“In my family, I suffered a lot. When I would get in trouble my uncle would burn me with a hot iron. But since I have been living here at this home I have been very happy. I have learned a lot with my education”. (Vijayalakshmi –age 16)

What I want to be when I grow up:

“A doctor—because I want to help other people”. (Karthika—age 12)

“I want to serve the Lord”  (Veeran—age 14)

Testimonies:

“One day a girl came to the school from another part of Tamil Nadu as an exchange student. After a week this girl was really depressed and one day she drank the poison. The nursing school saved her life. I was able to sit with her and I shared the gospel to her and told her that Jesus has a purpose in her life. Now she has accepted Christ and she is doing well. I am also sharing the gospel to some friends at school and some of them also have received Jesus into their lives!” (Helen –age 17)

“This year God used me through prayers. God has been answering all my prayers. I shared the gospel with my grandma and she accepted the Lord and got baptized. My grandma had a skin problem so I brought her to church. When my pastor prayed for her, this skin disease got totally healed! She is now very healthy and she is following the Lord!”… by Muthaiya

“This year God blessed me with good health and the good education. I was also able to share about Jesus to some of my friends.  Four friends of mine received Jesus into their lives through me; now they are following Jesus also. I am teaching these four friends at my school, so they are learning about Jesus through me, because their parents do not know the Lord. One friend named Vinoth that I shared the Gospel with told me that his mother was not feeling well. Vinoth told me to pray for her and then we will see if your God is the true God.  After I prayed for her, Vinoth went home and when he returned to school the next day, he said his mother was totally healed! She was feeling much better! I gave the Bible to Vinoth and now he is reading it all the time and he is even telling other kids at school about what Jesus has done in his life! He is also reading the Bible to the other kids! I am so very happy about this! I can feel that God is with me all the time.” -Stalin

“Every time when I play the kabbadi game, I pray to the Lord because I want to be a good witness. I will pray, ‘Lord, give me the strength like Samson’. Through praying, the Lord has helped our team to win many games. My teacher does not like Christians.  I have to be a certain weight to play this game. My weight was a little over than it should be so I was praying that somehow I would be qualified to play anyway. At the time my teacher checked my weight, my weight was the right amount! The Lord worked a miracle in my life and allowed me to play the game. I was able to get in the game because I knew the Lord would be with me even though the others said I would not be able to be in the game because I am a Christian. But I told them the Lord would help me and He sure did! This year the state finals were much harder, but the Lord still helped us to come in third place in the state championship finals.”  -Chinnakaal
