We want to praise the Lord for everyone that donated much-needed funds for flood relief in Pakistan. Independent Church in India (ICII) has collected a little over $2000 for this! We thank God that with these funds, our ministry partners are now able to help many of the flood victims. Even in the midst of such chaos, He is doing amazing things!
As soon as funds reached our Pakistani ministry team at New Life Ministries, one of the first outreaches that they set out to do was saving lives. They became aware of a village that was very remote and for which rescue efforts were being delayed. At this village, people were trapped on their roofs; the water was rising, and they only had a few hours until the water would sweep over the rooftops! Even worse, some of the houses were made only of mud, and the walls and roofs of the houses were already collapsing! These lives were in serious danger since, due to the extremely urgent need everywhere, the army and the civilian rescue teams could not get to every trapped resident in time. Our Gospel team immediately rented a small boat, and were able to rescue and even save the lives of twenty-five families! They had to make some twenty-five trips since only five people could fit in the boat at a time. Our team risked their own lives to save the lives of men, women, and children, and some of the funds you provided went toward renting the boat and buying its fuel to take these families to dry ground. The team showed the love of Jesus to these people, and also provided food for them since they had gone days without anything to eat. The survivors were very grateful for what the ministry team had done for them in saving their lives!
New Life Ministries reached another village where families who had been previously rescued were taking shelter under tents. Many of the adults and even children had not had food for two days. When our ministry team arrived in their small van, groups of desperate people quickly surrounded the vehicle to get food and care packs. The team gave out rice, cooking oil, medicine, soap, and more. Those who received these care packs were thanking them profusely. Christians who were among them shared this: “You are an angel from God! We were praying for food, and you came to give it to us!” It was a great witness also to unbelievers that came to get the relief packs, and our team plans to go back to share more about the Lord with them as soon as they get a chance.
ICII’s ministry team was able to help many flood-affected families, including pastors, with much-needed supplies. One hundred lives were saved from harm or drowning, and hundreds more were reached with life-giving supplies! Once again, our ministry team is so grateful to all of you who have helped and to those who have been praying for victims affected by the flood.
