Leprosy Medical & Food Outreach

Sponsor A Medical Outreach For Those With Leprosy

On Sunday, December 17th Independent Church in India started their first double service at the  church. Due to an overcrowded rented room during the services each week, they felt to begin reaching out to those lepers and needy people that have been attending the church in a unique and caring way. The first service is a regular service for all who will come and the second service has been started for those mainly with leprosy. After the service, the hungry are fed a good meal and their open wounds and sores are treated and bandaged by the ICII team.

Sharing Christ’s Love

This is a very special time for those with leprosy because they are considered the poorest of the poor and the untouchables of the untouchables that no one in their society has any desire to have any fellowship with. The service started with a time of worship. During this time the Lord’s anointing and presence fell among these special people and many began crying and pouring their hearts out to the Lord.

The new lepers that came to the service were hearing about Christ’s love for the first time in their lives. After a lifetime of sorrows and rejection from their families and society, this was a time of comfort and shedding of many tears before the Lord. It was a time to cast their burdens upon the Lord and to release their sorrows unto Him. It was a time to feed their spirits the Word of God as they listened as the message was preached.

A Meal of Compassion

After the message, the ICII Gospel team served them all a good meal. They enjoyed their food as many ate to their stomachs were full and had a chance to fellowship with one another. After the meal, those with open sores were lovingly wrapped up by some of the church believers who have been studying in medical school and working in nursing. Before leaving, the lepers were prayed for and also had a chance to share their burdens with the Gospel team. Also, new lepers that came to the service who did not receive a leprosy compassion pack received one of those as well. Before leaving, ICII provides each person some money to pay for their bus fare. Some of the lepers have been traveling over thirty miles by bus to come to church. Some even have to walk long distances to get on the bus.

ICII wants to keep having this medical and food outreach each week because no longer do they want to see anyone leaving that has not eaten for days or that has open sores on their hands and feet. Those who are homeless and needy are also invited to stay for the meal. Many lepers and needy people left that day with joy, anticipating the next service.

How You Can Help

We are looking for caring people that would like to sponsor these outreaches. For only $200 per week (Sunday Service) will cover the church rent, the food for up to 200 people, medical supplies, and pay for our nurse, the bus fare for the lepers and poor people to come to church, and other personal needs for the lepers or needy people.

This outreach has been growing and it takes around $200 to fully sponsor an outreach to these poorest of the poor. Those who would like to sponsor a whole month for $800 we will send you personal pictures of what happened during the month you have sponsored, so you can feel personally involved. ICII’s true heart’s desire is to provide for these special people needs, and to teach them spiritual truths. ICII wants to make sure that every leper they meet will know the love of Jesus and realize they are no longer an untouchable, but precious in the Lord’s sight. Help us to reach out to them in Christ’s love so they can realize for the first time in their life that they are loved. You can change a dark world of a leper into one of new life and hope in Jesus Christ.
