Following The Heart Of Christ Among The Unreached

Independent Church in India’s (ICII) primary goal is to follow the heart of Christ, and preach the Gospel. ICII’s missionaries have been reaching many unreached people groups, planting churches and doing follow-up discipleship among them. 

Every one of ICII’s missionaries must make incredible sacrifices so that they can share about Christ with unreached groups. The same work has been going in Pakistan and Kenya to reflect the heart of Jesus among the unevangelized in these nations.

One missionary shared: “I almost lost my life in one village when a mob attacked me violently, but I never gave up on sharing Jesus with them. After a year, now I planted a church in that same place where I was attacked.” All of ICII’s missionaries are working tirelessly, dedicating their time to be the hand of God to many needy people in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of  ICII’s churches have become centers for hot meals and hope, to feed the hungry both physically and spiritually.

India: Divine Appointment For A Suicidal Family

[A pastor] shares this amazing testimony: “Fifteen years ago in the early morning at four o’clock, I was praying in my house when God spoke to me very clearly that I should knock on a certain family’s door and talk to them. When I knocked, the woman was surprised that at four o’clock in the morning I had come to their house. I just told them that Jesus just spoke to me saying that I should come to their house and knock. When she opened the door, I said I wanted to pray for them. The woman started to cry and said ‘My family and I were going to commit suicide this morning. See the rope hanging?’ That day she received Jesus as her Savior. After that, she had started to come to church regularly, but her husband never believed in Jesus. He belonged to a Hindu radical group. Sometimes when I was preaching or holding a church service he would beat me. Many times he locked his wife in a room so that she couldn’t come to church. After fifteen years of this, one day this man came to my church. He was kneeling down saying, ‘I’m sorry. I want to know about Jesus.’ He got saved now and is coming to church regularly. The reason is because one day when he came to harass my church with all the other Hindu radicals, he heard the message of the Gospel saying that when you believe Jesus you will go to heaven, otherwise hell is waiting for you. Then, I was explaining about hell. So now he and his family are following Jesus!”

Pakistan: Drug Dealer Accepts Jesus

[An evangelist] shares this testimony of a transformed life: “Adnan was a Muslim who had come from another city and moved into my neighborhood. His family and kids left him because he was very stubborn. Some people told me that Adnan was a drug dealer and was selling drugs on my street, so I decided to meet with him. One day, when he was standing in the street, I asked him his name and I boldly told him that what he was doing was not good, neither for his life in this world, nor for the afterlife. He said he didn’t believe in God or an afterlife. I told him about Jesus and shared some verses from the Bible. He got angry at me and told me to leave. I prayed for him in my heart and left. The very next morning he came to see me and said he was not able to sleep all night. He was thinking about those verses and asked me to tell him more about the Bible. I shared some more verses from the Bible with him. He was so amazed listening to the Bible and asked me if he could visit every day to learn more. The next morning he came to visit me and said he was not going to sell drugs any more. He said he felt a real freedom, freedom from sin. He is now a new believer in Jesus Christ.”

India: Tribal Man Receives Jesus

A pastor] shares this incredible testimony: “One day I went to a village to preach the Gospel. This is a tribal area. No one was a Christian in this village. I started to preach the gospel to a certain couple. They wanted to hear, but other village people came at me. They said, ‘This is a Hindu village. You cannot be here.’ Then four guys came. They started to beat me and threw me out of the village. But I felt led of the Lord that I should go back to this tribal area and preach the Gospel again. So I was praying every day that God would give me some open door in this place. One day I was walking to another tribal area to preach when I met a man. He was telling me he had some sickness in his body. The doctors said he was going to die. So I asked him, ‘Can I come and pray for you?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ Then I went back to that same village where the men had beaten me so badly. This time, I prayed for this man. He got totally healed after that! He invited all his relatives and friends to hear the Gospel, even though the people had beaten me. They heard the Gospel and they accepted Jesus! Now I have a Bible study in that village.”

India: Blind People Receive Jesus

[A pastor], who has a heart to reach the blind, told this: “One day my team and I were preaching to blind people. Many of them wait every day at the bus stop to be hired for daily wages. Only if they work that day will they have money to buy food. One man came to me and said, ‘Today I heard about Jesus through you. I never thought that God loves poor people. I always thought if you are rich it means you are blessed by God and if you are poor it means you are cursed by God. But you told me today that Jesus healed blind people. He opened their eyes. I wish I could see Jesus with my own eyes.’ Then I shared the Gospel with him. I told him, ‘If you are a believer in Jesus you will go to heaven one day where there is no blindness. You will see Jesus in heaven.’ So he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Now he is bringing ten other blind friends to the church every week!”

Africa – Kenya:  Man Bitter Against God Becomes A Believer

[A pastor] from Kenya shares this wonderful testimony: “God led me to share the Gospel in a village called Nyamarambe in Kisii land. When I reached there, it was the time that COVID-19 was spreading at an alarming rate. I thank God that He led me to the village hut of a person named Wilfred. He had been having a spirit of unbelief and rejection. He said he did not believe in God’s existence. He had bitterness towards God because he had been suffering since he was a child without having sufficient food or clothes. His parents died when he was six years old. 

Lions had entered their village and killed fourteen people, and his parents were among those who were killed. So for the rest of his life, he had been suffering, unable to believe that God really existed. I shared the Word of God with him. I kept on talking to him about God’s love that He showed to us through giving His Son, Jesus Christ. But I thank God that on the seventh day as I was sharing with him that night, he broke out in tears and told me that he wanted to believe in God to change his life and to accept the love that Jesus gives. I prayed with him and after praying he felt a joy in his heart. He told me that now he is so excited that the void in his heart is filled. He is now a strong believer and teaches others in Nyamarambe about Jesus.” 

India: Paralyzed Man Is Healed

[A native missionary] shares: “Thirituvam is working as a loadman. His wife’s name is Mary. She is working as a fish seller. To support their family, they must work every day. Thirituvam used to drink alcohol daily. One day he drank and then fell down while carrying a load of rice. His family members admitted him to the hospital. They found that he had suffered a stroke. In his city hospital there was no specialist for stroke, so the doctors recommended to take him to a government hospital in another city. For one month he received treatment in the hospital, then after that they discharged him. He couldn’t move his arm or leg on one side. He returned home and he was bedridden, and others had to take care of him. Their family became very poor. They did not have any work. I went to his home and shared the Gospel with them. They believed and accepted Jesus! Many days I went to pray for him and share the Word of God. I gave him a Bible and told him to read it. But he could not read, so he told his daughter to read to him so he could hear the Word of God. The family began to pray every day. Three weeks later, he could walk with the help of a stick, and little by little he got totally healed. Now he is walking without any help. Their family has gotten peace and happiness. They give glory to Jesus!”

 

India: Prostitutes Come to Jesus!

[A missionary] tells this life-changing testimony: “One day I went to a village to preach the gospel and met a woman who was a widow. She came for prayer and told me that she was a prostitute and had HIV and was feeling very sick every day. I shared the gospel with her and told her, ‘If you believe in Jesus you will be saved, and you will go to Heaven.’ But she said she did lots of sin in her life that made many others go the wrong way, so she felt lot of guilt in her heart that she lived a wrong life. But I told her if she believes in Jesus she will be saved. I told her that Jesus met a woman who had five husbands and lived in sin with a man. But Jesus forgave her and gave her life. ‘Jesus wants you to accept him today, He wants to forgive you today. That day she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior  and prayed with me. Later on she invited over twenty widows and prostitutes in her village so I could share the gospel with them. So that day I shared about Christ with them and all of them accepted Jesus as their Savior! Now all of them are coming to the Bible study!”

Pakistan: Muslim Woman Accepts Jesus

[A pastor] shares this life-giving testimony: “This is a testimony of a Muslim woman who is really poor and lives in my village. One day I went to her house and her door was open. I saw her crawling to get some water. I went in and helped her get a drink. She said her husband died many years ago, all her kids had left her and she had been sick for many weeks. I took her to the hospital and paid for her medical needs and brought her back to her house. She was so amazed with my kindness and asked who I was. I told her I am a pastor. She said my parents had taught me good manners. I said, ‘Yes, but more than that, my parents worshipped Jesus. He taught us to love one another.’ She was amazed and asked who He was. I shared about Jesus with her. She was listening, amazed at what I shared. I have been going every week to check on her and to share something from the Bible. One day I went and she said she has accepted Jesus as her personal Savior! I was so happy that day to hear this great news!” 

India: HIV-Affected Youths Receive Jesus

[A pastor] shares this amazing testimony: “When I was preaching the gospel, I met a young man and his sister sitting without hope in front of their house. So I shared the Gospel with him. I told him that if he believes in Jesus, He is the only one who will take him to heaven. But they said, ‘No, we cannot go to heaven, although we are expecting our deaths at any time.’ Then they started telling me their story. Fifteen years ago, our mother was a prostitute. Through her income only we were able to survive, until she died. I lately found that my sister and I both have HIV. We are taking medicine from the government but no one ever comes near to us because they think we will give this disease to them. So people hate us a lot. We never felt loved by someone in our whole lives.’ I told them, ‘Jesus will cleanse all your sin and heal you.’ That day they accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Then I found a place for them to stay near my church. The boy has started to go to college for the first year, and the girl is in high school. Pray for their needs, to continue their education. so they can feel that they have a purpose in Christ”.

Kenya: Muslim Finds Jesus Through Reading The Bible

[A pastor] shares this awesome testimony: “I thank God for leading me to Kharim, who was a 32-year-old Muslim man. He saw me preaching in our village market. He asked me to give him a Bible. I gave him a Bible. After twenty-one days he came back to me and told me he was reading the Bible one night. As he opened the book of John, it seemed that a very bright light came out of the Bible and struck his face. He was amazed and he heard a voice telling him, ‘I am Jesus, the Son of God. I love you and I want you to serve Me.’ When he came back to his senses, he felt a great peace in his heart. That is how he accepted Jesus and he is now a strong believer in Christ in our church!”
