Leprosy Community Project

Where there once was sorrow and despair, there is now meaning and purpose...Where there once was starving and sickness, there is now nutrition and healing ... Where there once was loneliness and rejection, there now is family and love ... Where there was once no home, now there is a home of compassion!

Victims of leprosy, who have suffered from all these things and more, are now living on the "promised land" that God has given them. His love for these forgotten castaways, called untouchables in their culture and society, is precious and lasts forever.

Worshipping the Lord at the leprosy church service which is held outside under a tent on the promised land.

No longer do these precious people have to suffer with no food and medicine. No longer do they have to sleep on the streets with flies infesting their open sores and wounds. Now, at Homes of Compassion, they can wake up each morning knowing that they will not starve or be lonely that day. They now know for the first time in their lives that they are loved by Jesus Christ, and by those who are caring for them, and by all who are supporting them.

In our last "Finding Lost Souls" newsletter, there were three lepers which came to the land as soon as it was ready. Now, a few short weeks later, this small house has seven leprosy friends that are staying here. Even though we are out of rooms, others are sleeping on the porch. For them, to sleep on the porch is far better than living homeless on the streets and begging each day in hopes of receiving enough to buy some cheap, watery rice to fill their stomachs.

These two lepers are very willing to sleep on the porch of the small house at the leprosy community.

There are other lepers who are homeless and in desperate need that are ready to come to stay here. ICII urgently needs monthly supporters who would like to sponsor one leprosy friend for $30 per month or the community as a whole for any amount per month to help to provide their needs.

At the leprosy community, their day starts with prayer. After this, those that can and are willing go for a walk to do some small chores on the land. By then, a good hot breakfast is ready. After this, they spend time playing games and fellowshipping with one another. Before they go to bed, they are praying again. Bible studies have also begun here and every week many with leprosy meet for church here to worship the Lord.

Each one that is living here is so thankful to God and to ICII and their supporters for giving them a good life. They are so happy to know that they can stay here to live the rest of their life. It means everything to them to know that they will get three good meals a day. Most of these lepers were living on a grain that is considered cow food and the cheapest quality of rice. Rarely did they enjoy meat, fruits, or vegetables before. Now, each mealtime, they have a nutritious diet that they are enjoying very much.

Every week after the church service all the lepers receive a nutritious meal.
